Floyd Mayweather will return to the ring

Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time. He has won multiple world titles across five weight classes and is known for his incredible speed, footwork, and defense. But it’s not just his skills in the ring that have made him a household name. Mayweather has also been a master at marketing himself throughout his career.

Mayweather’s carefully crafted public persona has helped him become one of the most recognizable figures in boxing history. He famously calls himself “The Money” and flaunts his lavish lifestyle on social media, showing off his luxury cars, private jets, and expensive jewelry. This flashy image has drawn both fans and critics to him over the years.

Despite some controversy surrounding his personal life outside of the ring, Mayweather’s success as a boxer cannot be denied.

Recently the boxer has found a great source of income in exhibition fights and according to his promoter, The Money will return to the ring to face John Gotti III, MMA fighter and professional boxer.

The fight is agreed for the next June 11 FLA Live Arena in the state of Florida.

The president of the Money Team, James McNair, assured that it will also be a tremendous musical spectacle and that the special guest for the event would be the artist of the urban genre, the Puerto Rican Ozuna.

“Floyd Mayweather was the first to start the exhibition concept, and everyone followed suit. He now he is adding some flavor to the mix. A boxing showcase and musical performances all under one roof,” said McNair.

John Gotti III

Gotti III is a fighter who hasn’t gotten off the ground, and since 2017 he has a 5-1 record in MMA. In October of last year, he leaped boxing and has two victories, one by unanimous decision in four rounds against the American Albert Tulley and another by knockout in the first round against Alex Citrowske.

Another interesting fact about Gotti is that he is the grandson of John Gotti, the head of the Gambino family mob from New York.

The Money wants to face Conor McGregor again.

Last year Floyd Mayweather told the Daily Mail that he wanted to face Conor McGregor again and that he would start negotiations for it to happen in 2023; he also said that he likes these exhibition fights.

“I am not into fights where I am going to take any real punishment. So, guys like McGregor and guys that don’t really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys, I don’t really mind colliding with those kinds of individuals but nothing where I am going to put myself in a position where I am going to harm myself or hurt myself.” said the Money

However, McGregor quickly responded on Instagram, writing “✌️ #notinterested” alongside a picture of him hitting Floyd Mayweather with an uppercut. But the fighter does not rule out boxing again, and he told SkySports, “Boxing is my first love in combat sports. I had such a great time the last time I was out there.”

The last event was empty

It is understandable that Mayweather would want to fight someone like Conor, as this would ensure a large audience and good ticket sales, something that did not happen in his exhibition against Aaron Chalmers.

The match at London’s O2 Arena was nearly empty and attracted no attention.

Speaking at a post-fight press conference, Mayweather blamed the low turnout on a lack of time to sell tickets and suggested that British fans were less willing to spend money than Americans. “When you buy tickets over here, you don’t really want to spend money. In America, we don’t mind spending money,” he said.

Fans did not well receive his comments, and some pundits came to the defense of the UK boxing market, which, in addition to having produced great fighters like Lennox Lewis and Anthony Joshua, also has fans willing to see high-caliber fights and not exhibitions of celebrities.
