Regulators commit to promoting transparency in the Latin American gambling industry

Latin American gambling industry

Regulators commit to promoting transparency in the Latin American gambling industry. As the industry continues to thrive, regulators recognize the importance of creating an environment built on trust and fairness. By implementing measures that ensure transparency, such as strict licensing requirements, robust auditing processes, and clear disclosure policies, regulators aim to foster a secure and accountable gambling landscape. Through their commitment, they seek to safeguard players’ interests and uphold the integrity of the industry, ultimately creating a sustainable and reputable gambling ecosystem in Latin America.

On May 17, the seventh Ibero-American Gaming Summit was held in Panama City under the slogan “A future of opportunities.” The event had the participation of the industry’s leading actors, especially each country’s regulators.

Several activities were developed during the event, such as debates, work tables, and talks.

Manuel Sánchez Ortega, executive secretary of Panama’s Gambling Control Board (JCJ), moderated one of the most interesting round tables. The table called “The world gaming market, its projection in Latin America and the challenges in regulation” thoroughly analyzed the situation of the sector where the emphasis was placed on issues such as the industry has taken significant steps to have fair regulation that provides the correct supervision to guarantee the safety of bettors.

It was also mentioned that there are still some stigmas towards betting in some sectors of society and that there seems to be a campaign to link the entire industry with illicit activities such as money laundering.

Jaime Rivera Emmanuelli, interim executive director of the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission, I mention the important role of gambling companies and the positive impact they have on society when they operate legally “Unfortunately, when gambling is not allowed legally, the door is opened to illegality, and if we cannot be that alternative legal measure, the positive effect that the industry has on society is lost,” said the Puerto Rican.

Regulators support transparency in gambling activities

One of the event’s highlights was the reaffirmation of the regulators to commit to transparency to continue raising the image of the betting industry and create a healthy and safe gaming ecosystem.

The betting industry in Latam is growing at a rapid pace, attracting the attention of regulators who want to ensure that companies operating within their jurisdiction do so legally and transparently. The regulators are keen on promoting transparency to boost public confidence in the industry and prevent any suspicious or illegal activities. This approach has been thriving since it helps to eliminate doubts about the credibility of operations within the industry.

Transparency allows regulatory authorities to keep tabs on gambling activities, ensuring that they adhere to standards set by law. This oversight through transparency ensures that every stakeholder in the betting industry operates fairly without engaging in malpractice or corruption. Moreover, transparency promotes healthy competition among operators while reducing market entry barriers for new players interested in joining the sector. Overall, transparency serves as a vital tool for regulators looking to maintain a level playing field and promote investor confidence in Latam’s betting industry.

A rising market.

The Latin American gambling industry is rapidly expanding, and bookies who are able to provide the right infrastructure have excellent prospects for success. There are a number of key factors driving this growth. Firstly, the region’s large and increasingly affluent population has a strong appetite for gambling, particularly sporting events like soccer. Additionally, regional governments are starting to liberalize their gambling laws, creating opportunities for new entrants.

One key challenge facing bookies looking to enter this market is regulatory compliance. Each country in Latin America has its own specific regulations and requirements relating to sports betting and online gambling activities. Bookies must be prepared to navigate these complex legal frameworks while delivering an engaging customer experience.

Another critical consideration is payment infrastructure – ensuring that customers are able to deposit funds quickly and securely into their betting accounts.
